A matter is the central record for a piece of client work. The matter page brings the related details and financial activity into one place.

Find the right matter

Use the Legal header search or the Matters area. Search by the identifying details available in your workspace. Check the client and matter number before recording time or costs.

Review matter information

Review the client, responsible people, status, rate settings and budget information available to your role. The matter's related views give context for unbilled time, disbursements and invoices.

Work from the same record

Timekeepers record work against the matter. Billing teams use its time and disbursements when preparing invoices. Supervisors can review work in progress and budgets where they have access.

Closed, archived or inactive matters may not be available for new time entries. Ask the matter owner to confirm the appropriate status rather than recording work against an unrelated matter.
